About
Following a bachelor’s degree in economics and a master’s degree in communication in Paris, Sophie K spent several years working in advertising, media and public relations. Her interest in ancient trades and crafts asserted itself over the course of her work for the National Monuments Centre (Centre des monuments nationaux), the Classical Music Fair (Salon de la musique classique), the International Heritage Show (Salon international du patrimoine culturel) and the classic cars show Retromobile.
A few years in London allowed her to extend her exploration of decorative arts and fine crafts to the other side of the Channel.
Finally settling in Normandy, she began training as a gilder and received her gilding diploma after two years of study at the Paris Fine Furniture School (Ecole d'ameublement de Paris).
Sophie K works mainly for private clients. Her client base is international and she travels to London on a regular basis. She teaches the art of gilding at the Ecole de Condé in Paris (bachelor's degree in cultural heritage preservation). With two other craftmen, she has created the Passion d’Artisans association which presents twice a year crafts that make French and Norman crafts renowned.
